Heal's core strategy is to offer healthcare services through tech-enabled digital products using four modalities.

The world's first always-on,
color smartwatch
The Qualcomm Toq is a smartwatch companion for Android phones that delivers messages, alerts, and updates to your wrist. This was the world's first always-on, color touch screen smartwatch as it leveraged a Mirasol reflective display. Because the display was reflective, it was easy to see in bright sunlight. The power efficiency gave the battery extended life for up to 3 days.
• Always-On display
• Low power consumption
• Color, high visibility in sun
• Wireless charging
• Personalization

The surface components open and collapse, similar to the behavior of butterfly wings
Inspired By Nature
The concept of light and color interference plays is seen in nature – in the iridescent colors reflected off the feathers of a peacock or wings of a butterfly. In these air pockets inside the reflective material, the light is harnessed and the interference occurs, creating the color.

Ideation & Wireframes
The product was developed keeping in mind these design principles:
• Design for glancing
• Quick access to information
• Utilize technical advantages
• Design for low power consumption

The visual design language applied to app browser, integrated calendar and call screens.

Design of Watch Apps
The product was built from scratch, meaning every core application needed to be conceived and designed. Because this is for the small screen, the typical app design needed to be re-thought for not only size, but how the user interacts with it.
Some of the apps:
• Messages
• Call screens
• Calendar
• Activity Tracker
• Stocks
• Weather
• World time

Just a few of the clock designs

Each app screen was tested on the stretch board in the early days of development, before the watch hardware existed. This allowed testing for color fidelity and readability.

The watch connected to a companion Android phone app.
